When you want to emulate successful business people, you probably wonder about how they spend their mornings, how they maintain their productivity during the work week, and how they handle so many tasks in a day. Have you ever thought that part of their success might be directly related to how they spend their weekends?
Do successful people work on weekends to have an easier week or do they spend it getting plenty of rest to have the energy for the week? When you want to take notes from a successful professional by looking at their weekend activity, you may be surprised that they are spending it doing things like relaxing with friends, enjoying the mornings, and keeping chores to a minimum.
Enjoying the mornings
The work week doesn’t really allow for much time enjoying the mornings. Successful people are typically on a schedule between allowing enough to commute, grab a healthy breakfast, and work on their preparations for the work day. On the weekends, successful people actually enjoy their mornings since they don’t have the opportunity to really soak it in during the week.
It’s important not to oversleep on the weekends because it can throw off the whole work week, but enjoy that extra cup of coffee, take a long walk outside, or use it to knock out any tasks that need accomplished today so that the rest of the day can be relaxing.
Make time for friends and family
This is your time to catch with friends and spend quality time with the family. Your kids have had limited time with you all week so the weekend is a great chance to get out of your mind’s business mode and simply focus on something else; the family. Whether it’s a board game day indoors or an adventure day outside, it’s a great time to think about something new so that come Monday, your brain is refreshed.
Make time for yourself
Successful business people are so focused into their appointments with clients, colleagues, and others that they start to schedule their own work tasks to stay on track. The weekend is no different in which successful business people have to schedule appointments with themselves.
Without scheduling time to catch up on that book they’ve wanted to read or scheduling time to cook a great date night meal, it may never happen. Plan your appointments with yourself early in order to make sure you actually get time to take a walk, read a book, and check out that new restaurant.
Limit chores
The other common thread with successful business people is that they don’t spend their weekends sucked into housework. It may be tempting to plan on a weekend of chores because there is not enough time during the week, but this is the best way to burn yourself out and go into Monday still exhausted from last week.
The way to have a successful week is to take the weekends to actually recharge with relaxation, a change of focus, and some fun, so successful people know not to bog themselves down with chores. Use this time to disconnect and relax, so try to work on chores here and there throughout the week in order to get them done before Saturday.
Get your grocery shopping done during the week so that you can cook a great meal on the weekend and have the family help with bits and pieces of the cleaning tasks before your weekend of adventures gets here. Having less time to do chores will make them take less time to complete too.
If you want to run your week like a successful business professional, start by making your weekends count again with these tips.
