As we get closer and closer to the New Year, resolutions and new goals may begin entering your mind. It’s a wonderful time to make a fresh start and pinpoint some goals you’d like to work toward during the New Year.

The problem with New Year’s resolutions is often a lack of creativity. We hear the same resolutions over and over – I want to lose weight. I want to find love. I want to quit smoking. I want to spend more time with my family.

While these are certainly acceptable goals to set in your life, aren’t you left with the feeling that there’s got to be something more to resolutions and New Year goals than self-improvement?

After all, personal goals can be set any time of year, so why not focus on improving your business at the start of a new year?

I will delegate more low-priority tasks and save my energy for high-priority tasks.

I will read more books – not just business-related, but anything that helps me grow personally.

I will respond to work emails only during “business hours” that I set.

I will take at least one real vacation this year. 

I will focus on the 20% that generates 80% of revenue.

I will make my business profitable this year. 

I will try to participate in a few interviews, podcasts, guest posts this year to establish myself as an industry expert.

I will streamline business operations and make sure every system we use is properly managed.

I will find at least 3 ways to cut my expenses this year, big or small.

I will get more sleep this year – 4 hours a night just doesn’t cut it. 

I will work smarter, not necessarily harder, this year.

I will make mistakes in running my business this year, and will learn a valuable lesson from each one.
